My new favourite liquid lipsticks & CC+ cream (economical)

Updated: Jun 13, 2023

These days I've been trying to save on everything so I can hopefully save up more for David's and this family's sake. And part of saving means finding cheaper alternatives to my makeup routine. I thought this would be so difficult; however, who knew that drugstore brands could be this awesome! Don't believe me? Keep reading.

My first great find is this brand called "It". Its "Nude Glow" colour correcting cream that's supposed to be "Your skin but better" has a SPF of 40. This CC Cream ( I use a foundation brush instead of a sponge) leaves your skin looking fresh and glowy. Just like its tagline, it IS your skin but better. It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and it isn't too oily as well. I felt like my pores could breath! The first left product in the above picture was the one I tried on first.

If you are someone wanting a bit more coverage, I would recommend the second product from the left which has more coverage and contains a SPF of 50. The colour correcting full coverage cream will cover up your blemishes like a magic eraser. It also has anti-aging hydrating serum as well.

As far as picking the right shade for these two products, I would say that you need to definitely try them out at the stores. For me, some of the shades were a bit too dark or yellowish and didn't give my skin the best glow. So after a few tries, I settled on the fair light shade which matched my skin the best.

Another great find that I came across while browsing through different drugstore brands was Stila's Stay All day Liquid Lipstick. My favourites include the colours "Sheer Rosabella" & "Pura Shimmer". I found that the Sheer Rosabella had sort of a coral shade that was a little orangy. Before you scratch out the idea, I think you should try putting on a little bit at a time. When you put too much of it, I find the shade to be a bit too loud. However, if you put a little bit of the shade on the back of your hand, you will find that it spreads really well and a thin layer makes your lips look lightly plumed and juicy.

The second shade "Pura Shimmer" is also gorgeous. This is more of a natural and still glamorous shade. If you would like to make your current lip colour better without going too overboard, this is the shade for you. It is an natural shade that I found to be very pretty and beautiful. It's a look that makes you look so good while not looking like you are trying too hard. The shade also reminds me of a blush colour that usually comes from freshly opened roses.

The aforementioned products were the results of many trips to the drugstores. Of course, everyone has different preferences and different shades will look good on one person but not the next. So the best way to find out if these products suit you or not is to go try them out. There are many stores that carry these brands, one of which is Shoppers Drug Mart (that's where I got mine). I hope you find this post to be useful for finding your next best beauty product. Until next time! Happy shopping! :)

*Here's a picture of me with my cheesy smile and pretty nice looking skin (at least better than before). If you want to know which blush I used in this picture, I will talk more about it in my next post. It is also a drugstore brand! Until next time my friends!
